How to subscribe to a calendar feed on iPhone and Android

Published 2026-11-04

A calendar feed is a link that your calendar app checks for updates. When the organizer changes the schedule, your calendar follows, with no new files to download.

iPhone and iPad

Tap the Subscribe (webcal) button on the calendar's page, or open the feed link on the phone, and confirm adding the subscription. You can also go to Settings, Calendar, Accounts, Add Account, Other, Add Subscribed Calendar, and paste the feed link.

Android

The Google Calendar app on a phone cannot add a calendar from a link. Add it once on a computer instead: open Google Calendar on the web, choose Other calendars, From URL, and paste the feed link. The calendar then syncs to the Google Calendar app on your Android phone.

Google can only subscribe to feed links that are reachable from the internet.

Outlook and other apps

In Outlook choose Add calendar, then Subscribe from web, and paste the feed link. Most calendar apps have a similar option named subscribe, add by URL or internet calendar.

How fresh will it be?

Weektender serves the latest events every time your app asks. How often an app asks is up to the app; some check every few hours and some only once a day.

Treat the feed link as a secret: anyone who has it can read the calendar's events. The owner can replace the link if it leaks, after which old subscriptions stop updating.

Questions

What is an ICS or webcal link?

Both point at an iCalendar feed. A webcal link opens straight in a calendar app; an https feed link is the same feed for apps that want a plain web address.

Can I change events from my phone?

No. A subscribed calendar is read-only in your app. Changes are made by the calendar's owner or editors.
